There is a company that has developed premium fabric perfume that contains aromatherapy effect by using nine natural herbal ingredients and herbal extracts. It is Ecozero. AVING News interviewed Kim Yun-hwan, the CEO of Ecozero, which participated in the MIK HOT SPOT (Made in Korea Online Exhibition) KTVF.

Please introduce the company and the main products.

Hi. I am Kim Yoon-hwan, the CEO of Ecozero. Our company is an environmental startup company that researches the indoor air quality improvement field. Currently, as the first phase of our project, we launched the brand “Nine.” It is a premium fiber perfume product with aromatherapy effect, made by using nine natural herbal materials with strong antibacterial properties and herbal extracts through two years of research and development.

What’s outstanding about our product is that it has health benefits in addition to pleasant fragrance. Consumers can remove unpleasant odor by using our fabric perfume. It makes them feel good and help them improve their sleeping patterns and self-healing power. That’s what our product does.

And, we have Cook Band, the special lid for frying pan which we have developed. Seeing that harmful gas generated by cooking fish or meat can harm the health of the family and may even cause lung cancer to housewives who had never smoked tobacco, we have developed it to solve such problems, doing market researching and designing the product on my own. Now it is almost at the commercialization stage. Last month, we have received the Minister of Environment award. By early next year, we are going to finish the product development and we plan to advance into crowdfunding.

What is the second stage project?

The second phase of the project is Aroma Note. the brand of smart diffuser product. It is a next-gen innovative product made by combining existing aroma manufacturing technology integrated with IoT technology and AI technology. It was selected as a government-innovated research project in 2019, and it is currently in joint development with a research institute. It will be released in crowd funding around February 2021. The vision is to grow as a global healthcare company in the future by enabling various performances as the consumers use the smart diffuser products with the goal of preventing depression and improving sleep disorders. We will continue to develop health care products integrated with various aroma technologies and become a company that plays a beneficial role for people.

And from May 2021, we have the goal to export our products to Japan, Vietnam, and China. Rather than treating diseases with drugs that has artificial effects, I thought it would be great to solve problems such as prevention of depression or sleep disorders by using natural ingredients without side effects, so I’ve been preparing from five years ago. So, by researching related literature, related patent data, and related products, weighing all the options, I shifted my gear towards developing aroma products. Since then, I have been developing this.

Our company’s ultimate goal is to develop into a global healthcare professional company.

Tell us about a KTVF program that was helpful.

In the process of selecting and commercializing items, a considerable amount of money will be spent. So, when I checked the government’s support policy, I found out that it provides support to startup companies on a global level. So, we applied to MSS and startup promotion agencies to conduct the project. As a result, I have received several R&D grants so far. I was able to finish everything successfully, so I was very proud of being born in Korea.
