New attempt to promote Korean companies to domestic and foreign markets in post-coronavirus era!

On Apr. 21, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced at the National Council that they enacted the enactment of the Enforcement Decree of the Medical Device Industry Fostering and Innovative Medical Device Supporting Act. The enforcement decree is to take effect on May 1. It is expected to be a starting point for accelerating the development and commercialization of innovative products in Korea’s medical device industry, and it will foster the medical device industry and expand new treatment opportunities. It is meaningful in the way that it accelerates the development and commercialization of innovative products and industrial development at the present time when the medical device companies are actively developing technologies and entering the global market.

For this, MIK HOT SPOT, the online exhibition for investment and business expansion of the innovative companies in KHIDI Health Industry Startup Innovation Center that will lead Korea, opened on April 23. As the business through online is rapidly growing due to the coronavirus issue, various attempts are being made to activate online business and investment in preparation for non-face-to-face economic growth.

Online exhibitions are expected to become a trend rather than countermeasures in the post-coronavirus era, and many company supporting organizations including KOTRA, KITA, and KOSMES are making various attempts to promote online exports.

AVING NEWS, Korea’s only convention media and online exhibition center by itself, began this project to help small and medium-sized Korean companies to enter the domestic and foreign markets through MIK Hot Spot (Made in Korea Online Exhibition) on its way to become the global online hot spot.

The online exhibition consists of opening the MIK ONLINE HOT SPOT exhibition, business introduction video for buyers and investors, domestic and global promotion, target promotion for MIK HOT SPOT network, and post-management after contacting the buyers and investors, open for 365 days a year.

△K-Hub (nutritional supplement platform My Hub)

My Hub, developed by K-Hub, is an artificial intelligence algorithm developed by nutritionists and pharmacists from Seoul National University that provides an appropriate target intake amount to consumers. It is an app that provides how much the target intake has been achieved sensibly with a graph.

Rather than recommending a specific product, consumers can see all the health functional foods and pharmaceutical supplements manufactured in Korea and overseas from the database and compare the ingredients and characteristics to obtain information that are objective. In the app, in-depth ingredient information and health information can be obtained through expert video content, and real information written by consumers can be viewed rather than false reviews written for marketing, so reliable information can be checked.

△Custom My Skin (organic moisturizer)

Custom My Skin organic moisturizer is made of 99.9% nature-derived materials, and based on Kim’s own experience in treating burns, it aims to minimize irritation of sensitive skin while maintaining moisturizing power and inhibiting discoloration.

The sprout barley moisturizing facial cream is 31.5% organic and is made for extremely dry skin, skin irritation caused by losing balance of oil and moisture and moisturizing the skin after burns. It is made of natural cosmetic ingredients like barley sprout extracts, citron from Goheung, and camellia oil, all coming from Korea.

△Technical Trend Company (non-contact negative pressure smart mask)

The non-contact negative pressure smart mask is a mask for fine dust and yellow dust that can solve the problems of having trouble breathing, skin trouble, and makeup on the mask because it is a non-contact mask.

Unlike other disposable masks, it is a hard case product that can be used semi-permanently. Filter can be easily replaced with a simple touch, and the negative pressure creates differences in pressure so that the air from the outside cannot be mixed into it. Also, since it is a non-contact method, it does not directly contact the skin, solving the problems of skin trouble and difficulty in breathing.

△EverEx (knee joint exercise device KneeEx)

KneeEx, a specialized exercise device for knee joints, was developed to help people with early-stage arthritis or who had gone through surgery, realizing that there are not many devices that can help them exercise properly. The name of the device is a compound word of “knee” and “exercise,” literally meaning the device to help exercise the knee.

To be more specific, KneeEx is a wearable healthcare solution composed of software equipped with a hardware device with an exercise intensity control function, an electric stimulator (EMS), a muscle mass measurement device, and a communication module that can communicate with a smartphone app, and also an exercise guide, a goal-achieving game, and exercise data storage that enables communication with medical staff.

△AnyAir (personalized health mask Air Keeper)

Air Keeper is a personalized health mask that can acquire precise scan data through a face scanner in an application or a hospital, using the customized technology optimized for the face type suitable for each individual, as well as the function of a health mask.

When the customer sends facial scan data to the head office, the head office designs the mask tailored to the individual and then requests the mask manufacturer, and delivers to the customer through a distribution and delivery company. As a result, AnyAir can hold big data such as scan data of individual faces and information on mask making design.

△ Eli Frontier (edible insect comprehensive platform YouTubucks)

The YouTubucks platform is a comprehensive platform for everything related to edible insects. Simply, it provides edible insect finished products, raw material sales, food licensing, exports, and services to find edible insect raw materials at once.

Edible insects are not widely sold in Korea, but they are actually foods that are in the spotlight abroad. In pure protein content alone, insects have more than beef, so it can gain popularity as a well-being diet food that does not cause weight gain, and it can also be used as a protein ingredient consumed after exercise.

△IG (portable menstrual cup sterilizer)

IG’s portable menstrual cup sterilizer irradiates UV rays by using the UVA and UVC lamps in two directions, and the inside is chrome-plated to prevent blind spots through diffuse reflection. The existing UV sterilizer only has one lamp, so the user had to turn the menstrual cup several times to sterilize it, but this device improved this.

The electrolytic water sterilizer sterilizes not by boiling water, but by the electrolysis of water. It can sterilize by reducing the damage to the menstrual cup and reduce the risk of burns to the user. △Optier (customized mouse)

Optier uses 3D printers and 3D scanners to create computer mice that fit the hands of handicapped persons. In Korea, 1.2 million people with physical disabilities (amputation, joint problem, dysfunction) and 250,000 people with brain lesions (spinal cord injuries, Lou Gehrig, etc.) have difficulties in using computers, leading to information isolation and social disconnection.

The existing computer-assisting technology devices for the disabled out in the market are too expensive, and the devices cannot be universal for these people with various disabilities and symptoms. To solve these problems, this company is providing customized computer equipment with 3D printers and 3D scanners to the disabled, hoping to be used widely.

The products and services of the major companies of KHIDI Health Industry Startup Innovation Center in the MIK Hot Spot (Made in Korea Online Exhibition) will also be displayed in BIO KOREA 2020. Asia’s biggest bio convention BIO KOREA 2020 co-organized by KHIDI and Chungbuk Province and sponsored by MOHW will be open online due to the COVID-29 pandemic on May 18-23. Virtual exhibition halls, conference, and business forums will be operated, and the companies will be promoting their competitiveness. Also, with video meetings, businesses between overseas speakers, buyers, and domestic and foreign participating companies will be made. To date, more than 160 companies have applied for the virtual exhibition booth at BIO KOREA 2020. Companies wishing to participate can apply through the web page or email by Apr. 30.
